Ship of 5,000 gross tonnage and above, which falls into one or more of the categories in regulations 2.2.5, 2.2.7, 2.2.9,2.2.11, 2.2.14 to 2.2.16, 2.2.22, and 2.2.26 to 2.2.29 of MARPOL Annex VI (Bulk carrier, Gas carrier, Tanker, Containership, General cargo ship, Refrigerated cargo carrier, Combination carrier, Ro-ro cargo ship (vehicle carrier), Ro-ro cargo ship, Ro-ro passenger ship, LNG carrier and Cruise passenger ship), approved SEEMP Part III, and Confirmation of Compliance (CoC) should be kept onboard until 31 December 2022.
Accordingly, KR has entered the following requirements for the implementation of the convention for approval of SEEMP Part III in the convention note of each ship.

"In accordance with the amendments to MARPOL Annex VI that were adopted at MEPC 76, Carbon Intensity Indicators (CII) regulation of ships (subject to MARPOL Annex VI reg.26.3) of 5,000 gross tonnage and above engaged on international voyages will come into force from 1st Jan. 2023.
The ships subject to the CII rating should develop Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) Part III and it should be approved by Administration or RO by 31st December 2022 and be issued Confirmation of Compliance (CoC) which should be kept onboard.
This note shall be deleted after checking the approved SEEMP Part III and CoC onboard at a periodical survey in 2023 by an attending surveyor.

As of 06 December 2022, about 30% of the approvals have been made for ships in progress with our classification society. Considering that the approval completion date is 31 December 2022, please note that if you do not proceed with the approval in advance, there may be a delays due to administrative burden.
For the smooth implementation of this regulation, we are attaching the technical information regardingthe implementation of SEEMP Part III, which was notified earlier.
Ship-owners who have not yet proceeded with approval of SEEMP Part III, please refer to the attached procedure and complete it as soon as possible.
